College/Career
The CUHS Career Center
Classes come to the Career Center to utilize the Eureka Career Information system that is installed on the computers. Eureka offers career assessments that will identify personality traits, transferable job skills and preferable job characteristics. Once the student’s traits have been identified, the program will provide detailed descriptions on more than 800 career options. Once the student selects a career to explore, Eureka will offer information on colleges, universities and short-term training programs linked to that career.
In the fall, the CUHS Career Center holds a College/Career Day. On this day, several colleges, trade-schools and other institutions of higher learning will be on-campus with information on their particular school.
Students can apply for their pin number in the Career Center. The website is www.pin.ed.gov when a student has their pin number, they can start to fill out the FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov
There are lists of websites with information about colleges, financial aid, and the SAT and ACT tests in the Career Center, such as:
Scholarship information and applications are also available in the Career Center. Spring is “scholarship season” at CUHS; many local organizations and clubs offer their scholarships then. The high school has a general CUHS application that awards over 33 scholarships and certificates, as well as the Rodgers scholarship that recognizes academic accomplishment and career pathway involvement. Both of these have paper applications that are available in February. We are working on having these applications available on the website.
