Plagiarism Policy

Adopted Fall 1994

The English Department of Corning Union High School, with administrative approval, adopts the following policy:

Any student found “using any part of another person’s ideas* or writings* or inventions* as his or her own” (Oxford American Dictionary) will be punished according to the following process:

* Includes all available sources (i.e. music, internet, books, magazines, newspapers, letters, plays, journals, encyclopedias, videos, movies, television productions, text books, etc.)

First Infraction: 

Student will fail the assignment or project.

Second Infraction: 

Student will fail the academic quarter in which the plagiarism occurred.

Third Infraction: 

Student will fail the academic semester in which the plagiarism occurred.

Fourth Infraction: 

Student will face recommendation of the student study team and/or faculty senate and/or administration.
