Classroom Policies
Classroom Policies
Mrs. Ramay
In order to maintain a smooth running and productive classroom, I maintain the following expectations:
Students must treat their fellow students, themselves, and me with respect.
I expect every student to do his or her best to participate in every lesson throughout the class period.
I expect every student to come to class prepared to participate.
Departmental Wide Late Work Policy
If a student is absent the whole day that an assignment is due, the assignment is due at the beginning of the next class meeting.
If a student is absent the day an assignment is given, the first day that the student returns, he or she must get the assignment to be turned in the following class meeting.
If a student misses a class for a school related activity (sports, field trips, etc), the student must find out what he or she will miss. The assignment will be due with all of the other students' work. If an assignment is due the day the student has the school activity, the assignment MUST be turned in prior to leaving school.
If the assignment is long term (given two or more days before) it must be turned in on the due date--no exceptions.
It is the responsibility of the student to find out what he or she missed or will miss.
Missed Work
If a student fails to complete an assignment, they will be given ISP to make sure that the next assignment is not neglected.
Tardies
Students are considered tardy in the following circumstances--
Not seated when the tardy bell rings, or when roll is being taken.
Using the restroom during class
Students are allowed three tardies per semester without penalty. If a student earns a third tardy, parents will be notified by mail.
Tardies may be made up by spending all of ISP after school on the day the tardy was earned.
Students may spend 10 minutes after school on the day of the use instead of earning a tardy for using the restroom. Once this time is made up, the tardy will be erased.
If a student earns a fourth tardy, and has not made up any of the previous three in a single semester, his or her grade will be lowered one full letter.
ISP (Independent Study Period)
Students must be available during ISP between 3:05 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. if asked to do so, unless they are already engaged in a school commitment.
During this 20-minute period, I will help students actually complete their homework!
I am always available to assist students during this time.
Misbehavior
If any student has difficulties meeting any of these classroom policies, I will resolve the matter in the following order, unless a severe violation occurs:
Conference with the student during ISP
Parent contact
Formal meeting with the parent and appropriate school administrator
Referral to the vice principal
The exception to this is plagiarism
Plagiarism
Any student involved in plagiarism (see policy) will face the dictates of the policy and the parent and vice principal will be immediately contacted.
