Spanish
Why take Spanish?
The Spanish department triumphantly gets students taking, for many, their second language, while for others it strengthens their first language. We have a wide range of learners in our department. At the beginning level, students learn holidays, participate in a fashion show, and write children’s books in Spanish. In the intermediate levels, students, in Spanish, write up scrumptious menus and design movie posters. They also delve into Latin American culture by combining art and literature, and in some cases creating art. In the advanced classes, students read literature in Spanish, like Kike, and immerse themselves into the history of the “Zoot Suit Riots”. Learning Spanish is a useful skill Corning High students can add to their talent repertoire.
